| Summary: | |
| Geant4 is designed as a toolkit for the simulation of the passage of particles through matter. Its areas of application include high energy, nuclear and accelerator physics, as well as studies in medical and space science. The two main reference papers for Geant4 are published in Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research A 506 (2003) 250-303, and IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science 53 No. 1 (2006) 270-278. Also there are many applications developed in each application fields based on Geant4 such as Gate, Topas and so on. In this training course, philosophy of the design and existing functionalities will be introduced. We intend to give beginner friendly lectures. Still this will be at good chance even for people who know Geant4 well to know Geant4 core developers. All of the lecturers in this training course are core developers of Geant4. This time, the hands on session will not be carried out because of the limitation of the given time slot. The lectures still have interests to offer another chance on the extensive training course in the future. The source codes, examples, documents and virtual machines including the development environment are freely downloadable from the web sites. The details are explained during the training course. |
